It’s been a long time since I’ve installed a language. I know red alert 3 is the worst game in the world, but when Microsoft released it, I had to give it a try. It was just so surprising that they would release such an old game with no localized languages. So when all of my classmates stopped playing after two days of failure, I started playing again in Mandarin Chinese without installing any language packs. It was just in time, because in the game there is a Chinese desktop in your base. I was pretty excited when I saw it. Soon after that, I played for another two weeks with no language packs because my classmates were already complaining about the game. My solution was simple: stop playing it until Microsoft localized it! For all you gamers reading this article, Microsoft released red alert 3 over 10 years ago! I’m not joking when I say this must be one of the oldest games in existance. The game is so old that all the main features are working but they are not localized into English or any other language. Also, the game is too ancient to be made compatible with Windows Vista or 7. There are thousands of amazing games out there that can keep you entertained for hours. I’m not sure how long it will take Microsoft to release an official language pack for Russian, Japanese or Chinese language versions. That is why I urge all of you reading this article to start demanding Microsoft release official language packs immediately. You can start by leaving a comment on the Windows Vista website (you need to login first). The official language packs are not available for the Windows XP version of the game, but you can get them here, here and here. There is also a patch that you can install to fix the language pack problem on Windows XP installation that is available here. It’s obvious that Microsoft will not release an official language pack for DOS, but there are some very simple ways to play it with support for Russian DOS text and voices and your favorite graphics and music (see below) (Note: You will need a program like DOSBox to run the game). There are many free fan made language packs like Chinese Language Pack which you can download here or English Language Pack (multilanguage) that work with the game. Official language pack is not available for Windows 98/ME, but there is an unofficial English language patch available here. You can try to run game in DOS or install unofficial patch on Windows XP or Vista. The game also works in DOSBox with support for Russian text and voices and your favorite graphics and music (see below). It’s not clear if red alert works in Windows 3.1, but you can try it with FreeDOS or Virtual PC. cfa1e77820
